Michael Jackson's Memorial

Yesterday I watched a small part of the Michael Jackson Memorial; I was not impressed at all.

I thought that it was way OTT and slightly tacky, in fact, I wanted to cringe.

I know that people wanted to celebrate his life, but I'm sure that it could have been done in a more tasteful and dignified way.

For me, a more fitting tribute to his life would have been to hold a free concert (at a later date) where his family and other big name singers sang all his songs.

School Trip

Today Thomas went to the Isle of Man, or as he pronounces it the Is Le of Man!  They got off to a ropey start though as the coach was really late getting to the school (fingers crossed that they didn't have to catch a later ferry).

I hope the weather holds out for them, but more importantly I hope he has a fabulous time.

Gut Feelings

You know when you get a 'feeling'  about someone, you can't exactly say what it is that you don't particularly like about them, you just know you don't like them.  I'm definetly going to start paying more attention to that feeling.

The other day we were all invited to a Team meeting, basically because the sh*t had hit the fan.  The manager had resigned as had one of the coaches, and the meeting was to introduce the new manager, to explain why things had happened in that particular way, and to resolve any issues.  I came out of there not impressd at all (not with the new manager, but with the attitude of the coach who was leaving and one or two of the parents).

At the meeting, it was explained to everyone that at the next tournament, the children taking part would be the ones who won it last year - the defending champions; well! that went down like a tonne of lead with 2 Mums, it was like they thought it was a deliberate ommittance of their child.

I've since spoken to someone who knows a bit more of the reasons behind why the manager left and surprise, suprise! the person who makes my hackles rise is partly behind it.  I've made it known that I won't stand to be with her, I'd rather walk away from the team than have to put up with her for even a nano second.

Something To Make You Laugh

A fart is a pleasant thing

It gives the belly ease

It warms the bed in winter

And suffocates the fleas

A fart can be quiet

A fart can be loud

Some leave a powerful

Poisonous cloud.

A fart can be short,

Or a fart can  be long,

some farts have been know

To Sound like a song........

A fart can create

A most curious medley,

A fart can be harmless,

Or silent, and deadly.

A fart might not smell

While others are vile,

A fart may pass quickly,

Or linger a while ........

A fart may occur

In a number of places

And leave a strange look

On everyone’s faces.

From wide-open Prairie

To small elevators

A fart will find all

Of us sooner or later

But are farts all bad?

It's simply not true

We must never forget......

Sweet old farts like you!

The Highway Code

For those of you who drive (I don't, unless you count people mad!!!) can you please tell me where it says that you're supposed to speed up and run the red light?   I only ask, coz yet again some stupid bint decided to do that (it was actually someone I know, and to make matters worse, they had kids in the back of the car).

This is a particularly busy junction, and I for one am sick and tired of having to watch out for imbeciles.  When the GREEN man lights up and you get the RED light, that means YOU bloody well stop, and not try to run me, my kids and anyone else who happens to be crossing over.

Instead of having speed cameras on motorways, the Bizzies need to put them on the crossings to catch these 'jumpers'.  A couple of points on their licence and a hefty fine, and I'm damn sure that they wouldn't do it again.

Why Is It...............

that when it comes to fancy dress I can have a million and one ideas as to what everyone else should dress up as, yet when it comes to myself the mind goes totally and utterly blank?

I'm really struggling to come up with ideas, so any suggestions would be most grateful.

The 'theme' is TV/Film Characters.  Ideally I don't want to have to go out and buy a costume as I'm highly unlikely to wear it again and the idea of  fiddling around glueing and sticking sparklies fills me with dread (I'm no good at stuff like that).

Whoever invented fancy dress needs strangling *huffily pouting*

When Is One Life More Important Than Another?

The answer to that is NEVER, yet the way that people are reacting to death of Michael Jackson you wouldn’t think so.

For all those who missed it, Farrah Fawcett also died yesterday leaving behind a devastated family, but that is all being over looked (probably not a bad thing for the family as it will give them the privacy to grieve).

In the grand scheme of things we are all the same, the only thing that separates us is money; some of us have it, others of us don’t; but we are no less or more important than the person sitting next to us (on a personal note I find those without money to be more genuine than those that do).

If you’re so inclined to pray, then don’t pray for Farrah or Michael, pray for those that they have left behind.

As for me, I will be spending the rest of the day thinking about my Dad who would have been 63 today.

RIP Dad, miss you loads you cantankerous old git!

Bend The Rules, Not Break Them

Today Mav and I went to Chester Zoo with the school.  Mav went as a chaperone for Yr 3 and I went as a chaperone for Yr 6, but once we got there, we teamed up and walked round together.

Now, before they even got on to the bus, they where all told in assembly by the Headmaster that the money that they had brought with them was not to be spent on sweets; ice cream and/or a souvenir would be fine.

Everything was going swimmingly until we got to the shop.  People didn’t have enough money for this, others where trying to scrounge money for that, and when they saw that others where having sweets ……. Finally, after much sulking I told them all that if they wanted sweets that was fine, they could buy them, but they where not to eat them until after school, that way they wouldn’t get themselves in to any trouble and technically we wouldn’t be breaking the rules.

Needless to say this wasn’t good enough for 1 or 2 of them, and by the time we got to the penguins you could cut the atmosphere with a knife, it didn’t help that one of them decided to call me ‘stupid’ for bending the rules.  Thomas then spent the rest of the afternoon with the biggest cob on you’d ever seen and 1 of the others didn’t actually stop long enough to see the animals.

When we got back to the bus, one of the girls who’d bought a big sugar dummy got it out and started to eat it ….. guess what?  She got told off! Who’d’ve thought that would happen?????

Once we where back at home Thomas finally apologised for his behaviour, but not before I’d given them the lecture on how as a chaperone it is my job to make sure that everyone is safe, everyone has a nice time and that everyone gets to see at least 1 thing that they want to see.  Not sure if I’ll volunteer my services again so quickly, which is a bit of a shame as Christian will be the only one left in Junior school.

Enough moaning, here’s a few pictures of the animals for you to see.

The Generosity of Others

The generosity of others never ceases to amaze me.  On Friday Mathew was mugged.  While he was out with his friends some lads jumped out of a car and robbed him.  Thankfully he wasn’t hurt, but he did lose his mobile.

When we were at the football at the weekend I told some of our friends, and they both turned round and said that they’d give him a phone, and they didn’t want a penny for them as they were ‘old’ phones.

At training yesterday Ray came up and gave me his old phone, he said that if he didn’t want it for me to pass it back to him on Thursday at Goalkeeping training.  When we got back home I told Mathew what the deal was, he took one look at the phone and was totally and utterly made up (much preferable to the pink one he was having to use).

So, a HUGE thank you to Ray for his generosity; and to Alex for his too.

Bittersweet June

June is a month for bittersweet memories.

June was the month of my Nain and Dad’s birthday’s, it’s also the anniversaries of my Nain, Dad and Taid’s death.  It’s also mine and Mav’s wedding anniversary.

Today we went to my Uncle’s funeral, so we took the opportunity to go to Bethel on the way home.  Despite the day it was really nice as it was the first time that me and my sister had been there together for a long time.

It’s been 22 years since Taid died,  33 since Nain and 4 years for Dad; I still miss them to this day.
